Tape Adding Machines - A Very Expensive, Unnecessary Addiction

The paper tape machines mechanical enterprise on desks next to the high prices of personal computers are not normally regarded as an excessive expense. In fact, it is my experience that the mechanical machines are considered by companies as a necessity. Nothing, in my opinion, could be further from the truth on the other. These outdated mechanical dinosaurs can be very costly and unnecessary drug which is an inexpensive alternative.

Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that adding strips of paper mechanical machines, calculators, or printing, are no longer viable office equipment when they are sitting next to personal computers. Pencil and spreadsheets almost disappeared shortly after the advent of the personal computer. This migration software spreadsheet was considered very significant since the removal of electronic spreadsheets provided much more functionality in an easy to use.

Migration, in my opinion, is long overdue for adding strips of paper mechanical machines. With the availability of the machine by adding rich programs like myOwn10 key, it no longer makes sense to continue to use the expensive, long private lifts. Electronic machines, such as spreadsheets, offer many more features in an easy to use. Electronic tapes also contribute significantly to the bottom line compared to the old printing calculators.

Factor Analysis

To test my hypothesis, I made an analysis of ROI conversion myOwn10 key for United Parcel Service. Why Brown? Because the UPS website displays very detailed technical information for the company. The number I needed was a leader of personal computers in use at UPS. From Sunday, 5 August 2007, the number of jobs in the UPS network to use is listed on their website as 149,000. This was the starting point for my calculations.

The following are other assumptions that I needed to complete the analysis. I tried to be the custodian of all these factors.

* Percentage of PCs with a computer printer sitting next to him - 30%.
* Price of paper rolls - $ 8.48 / pk 12.
* How many times a new paper roll is installed on each printing calculator - every 2 months (6 / year).
* Prices of printer cartridges - $ 3.00 ea.
* How many printer cartridges are consumed every printing calculator - 1 year.
* Percentage of printing calculators replaced by an - 10%

The cost of purchasing mechanical paper tape machines for new employees are not considered in this analysis. Also not included in the cost of the power necessary to operate the mechanical machines.

Annual cost of dinosaurs

For this analysis, I created an ROI analysis with step-myOwn10 Key. You can view all of the analysis step in another browser window or tab by clicking "View stage" in the resource area at the end of this article. I invite you to click on this link now if you can follow along on stage.

The step of calculating the annual cost of maintaining an estimated population of the addition of mechanical machines first time on line 4. As seen in the first part of stage (lines 1 to 33), the annual maintenance costs of printing calculators, is, in my opinion, showed that something more than trivial. On line 33, you can see that the annual prize to keep all these machines mechanical bandwidth in offices next to the PC is just under $ 550,000.

The next question is what would happen if these old dinosaurs have been replaced by an adding machine program myOwn10 key? The rest of the ROI analysis of step responses to this question.

Cost of conversion to myOwn10-Key

On lines 35 to 50 of the step is an estimate calculated for a site license for myOwn10-Key. I based this calculation on my 60-40 plan that is available to large companies. Under this plan, the price is based on 60% of the population of the redundant computer. A 40% discount is applied. The site license is issued for 100% of the population of PCs under consideration.

For this analysis, I'm assuming that UPS wants a site license for personal computers on which a mechanical companion machine is replaced by myOwn10-Key. PC company that does not have a companion print calculator are not included in the site license.

As seen on the stage 48 of the return on investment, conversion of electronic bands with myOwn10-Key is a beautiful, one-time price of just over $ 320,000. The period of return on investment equivalent to about 7 months. This analysis shows that the savings to be realized from the conversion to myOwn10 key can be substantial. Remember, these figures are based on factors analysis. The savings could be much more. These annual report directly to the bottom line.

* The first year savings - $ 226.093.
* Minimum of savings each year thereafter - $ 547,128.

In addition to these savings, there are also environmental benefits. No purchase of strips of paper and ribbons for packaging, less pressure on our forests. And not throwing machines broken and exhausted tape cartridges means less non-degradable plastics in progress in our landfills.

Make your own analysis

These savings are potentially significant, the greater the environmental benefits of converting mechanical paper tape to add machines myOwn10-Key are available to large corporations. To find out what kind of savings, your business can achieve, download key myOwn10 ROI analysis stage (link below) and plug in your own values on the tape lines below. (The 60-40 plan is a PC population of at least several hundred. There is a reduction schedule for small populations.)

2 - PC Total Population
3 - Percentage of your PC with printing calculators sit next to them
7 - Price to pay for each package of 12 paper rolls
13 - Average number of rolls of paper consumed by each calculator every year
19 - Average number of tape cartridges installed in each computer each year
20 - Price to pay for each print cartridge
25 - Estimation of the percent of your calculators which are replaced annually
26 - Estimated cost you pay for the printing of new computers

When one of the above values are changed on the stage, the stage is recalculated. The lines on the steps that are highlighted in blue and green (when the stage is opened in myOwn10-keys) Master / derived values. These lines are connected so that the subtotals cascade updated with more articles on the stage.

Conclusion

In my opinion, adding strips of paper mechanical machines are expensive, outdated drugs. Migration of the machine by adding more features to the electronic machine software such as myOwn10 key, makes it an excellent business acumen of both cost and environmental perspectives. I think it is time for mechanical paper tape dinosaurs faded in the sunset where the pencil and paper spreadsheets have disappeared nearly 30 years.
